Orest will be 102 in July and he has all of his cookies.
Making Bone Broth From Scratch
Today is a work day and a diet day. I'm making broth. I have some pictures of the ingredients: water, celery, carrots, garlic, onions, cooked chicken bones with skin and a bit of meat. You'll see a picture of the ingredients later. I left all of the paper on the garlic and I left the dark first layer of skin on the onion. I snipped the long chicken bones in half, so the marrow leaks into the broth. 1/4 cup of white or red wine vinegar in the broth leeches the minerals out of the bones. Simmer the broth for 5 hours.
Today's Eating Plan
The diet I'm going to be on is: 2 cups of bone broth in the morning, a full meal with all the food groups + healthy snacks. Sip broth in the evening. No alcohol today.
Watering, Fertilizing, and Waiting Out the Rain
We got our exercise today watering and fertilizing the flower pots and the tomatoes and peppers around the house. It's supposed to rain this evening and tomorrow. This is the first fertilizing the plants will get. We have to get it done before the rain! My full meal was an egg salad sandwich on whole grain bread, tomato juice, borscht (from the freezer), an apple and 1/4 cup of almonds. Both the sandwich recipe and the Ukrainian borscht recipe are in "Your Weight Loss Companion Cookbook". As the broth was simmering, I was contacting bookselling websites trying to market my book. We sat outside with Chewy in the evening, but rain chased us into the house. Cindy and I caught up by texting. Chewy isn't bothered by rain. He barked far into the night, protecting our yard from foxes and coyotes.
