A Bear Takes Out the Corn Crop

We've been dealing with wild animals galore! Over two nights our corn crop was destroyed by a wild animal. We had a lot of communication with the neighbours. Harley's cousin saw a juvenile black bear in the 'hood. Our corn was the worst hit in the neighbourhood.

Loaded for Bear

We have one man pulling his trailer close to his wife's garden at night. He's staying inside the trailer. You might say he's loaded for bear. I'll keep you informed on the neighbourhood garden drama.

A Worrying Night for Chewy

Harley just came back from his walk with Chewy. Chewy barked for hours last night. Then he quit. I became concerned about his safety. I opened the door of our house; he had silently stationed himself at the end of the sidewalk. When he saw me, he came to me and licked my toes. I petted him behind the ears. It was only after I knew Chewy was safe, that I could fall asleep.

Reading the Signs: Coyote and Bear Scat

Harley checked the crab apple tree this morning. The ripest apples are falling off. Harley identified coyote scat near the site. We think the coyotes were snacking on fallen apples last night. We are getting to be experts at identifying coyote & bear scat! We do take Chewy for his regular vaccinations once a year.
